This beautiful stone and wood cabin built in 2005 is the perfect get away for couples or families who want to explore all that the High Country in North Carolina has to offer. Located about 2 miles from Ski Beech and 6 miles from Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, there is always something for everyone, regardless of the time of year you choose to visit.
Take a 5 minute drive to the top of Beech Mountain and enjoy the spectacular views. Hit the slopes in the winter or visit Fred's Mercantile Store in the spring, summer and fall and pick up a Beech Mountain Trail map to explore the many hiking, disc golf, and biking trails on the mountain. Take a Yoga class at "5506, or enjoy live music at the Brewery. You can have it all.
It is easy to access all of the local outposts to join a day trip for rafting, rappelling, kayaking or river tubing in the summer. There are also other wonderful attractions all within driving distance such as Hawksnest Ziplining, Grandfather Mountain, Worley's Cave, Linville Caverns, Banner Elk Winery, blueberry fields, horseback riding, and many, many more! So much to do, so little time!!
When you get to the cabin, the first thing you will notice is the wonderful stone walls and hard wood flooring. The living room area is beautifully decorated in a cabin theme and the gas fireplace is the perfect accessory! The first floor also has a full bathroom, fully equiped kitchen and a laundry room with washer and dryer.
The second floor has 2 spacious bedrooms with large closets. The first bedroom has room for a crib, pack n play, or small pet crate. The second bedroom has a balcony with a 6 person hot tub to relax those muscles after a long day of hiking or skiing!
The cabin is heated in the winter months by a roaring fireplace that generates enough heat for the entire property regardless of how low the temperatures drop! There are ceiling fans and cooling towers as needed that along with the breeze from the open windows has been sufficient to keep the temperatures pleasant all summer long.
Just minutes from the historic town of Banner Elk, and 30 minutes from Boone, home of Appalachian State University, it is easy to enjoy the dining and shopping choices in the local areas. Blowing Rock is right down the road with all kinds of wonderful cultural activities as well. Get out and explore the High Country or stay in with all the comfy conveniences of home!
Although not required, it is highly recommended to have a 4wheel drive vehicle during the winter months. The city is responsible for getting the main roads cleaned up after a snow or ice event, but the driveway can prove tricky. Our local resource gets there as soon as he can to scrape the driveway however, if you are on a time schedule and don't want to wait for him, it is better to have a 4wheel drive or to park at the top of the driveway in the stone lot to the left.
